Self-harm & Eating Disorder

Updated: Oct 12, 2021

Complex difficult feelings and behaviours can be challenging and often need a multidisciplinary approach. People can experience an overwhelming pain in and towards the body which needs to be supported with sensitivity and compassion. Often these behaviours are seen as “bad” and are treated punitively which can cause more contraction and amplify underlying feelings of shame, reject, powerlessness and hurt.

Yoga therapy helps to connect to inner resources such as the breath, inner calm, compassion, and the relaxation response. It can help increase feelings of self-acceptance, inner strength, and inner power. Building up awareness and cultivating these internal resources help to safely feel and explore more difficult inner emotions, patterns and beliefs to mindfully begin to change and heal.
