Panca Kosha

Updated: Jul 12, 2024

The Panca kosha means five sheaths and refers to the sheaths that make up our human systems. One being more subtle than the next as below:

Our body-mind and breath are constantly adapting to our inner and outer environments to maintain homeostasis and balance. Constantly being conditioned.

Panca koshas- three sheaths "outer" are conditioned by the environment (and apart of nature), inner sheaths are always in harmony and in tune with natures wisdom and bliss

When our conditioned self doesn't get to restore balance there is tension and disharmony and becomes dysregulated.

When there is dis-order, stress, in our body-breath-mind there in incoherence and we are not in"sync" with our inner -wellbeing, our inner guidance, natures wisdom or our inner bliss.

Yoga practices, including movement, breath, lifestyle, cognitive and behavioural practices, help to restore balance so we can synchronise back into resonance, coherence or harmony with our inner wisdom and spirit. Our natural state of joy and peace

Is felt and expressed again. The light shines through ... possibly literally through the fascial system but that's for another time. 😉🧐

Importantly, if we focus on our inner spirit, through mediation, an inspired passion, creativity, an intimate connection, nature etc... that amplifies our inner spirit and helps to harmonise our outer bodies, also restoring health and happiness.

Re-ordering and rebalancing our outer body-breath-mind creates coherence and are inner well-being, inner wisdom and bliss shines though. We are in harmony with our environment. When we bring our attention to our inner well-being through meditation or a reflection from others (mirror-neurons, fascial system senses etc.) our inner light shines though and creates harmony in the outer sheaths.
